NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (AP) — A hearing to finalize the sale of the former North Adams Regional Hospital has been scheduled for next month.
A U.S. Bankruptcy Court clerk tells The Berkshire Eagle (http://bit.ly/1iOUWG2 ) a judge will hold a hearing July 31 to close the bidding and award the sale to the highest bidder. Once the bid is accepted, a closing date will be set.
As of Thursday, the only bid was a $4 million offer from Berkshire Health Systems, parent company of Pittsfield's Berkshire Medical Center.
The property and assets include a parking garage, office building, VNA/Hospice as well as the family practice building and other property.
The hospital closed abruptly in late March, putting more than 500 people out of work and leaving the region without an emergency room.
