Matt Spalding, a historian, constitutional scholar and best-selling author at the Heritage Foundation, has been promoted to be the think tank's vice president for American Studies.

Spalding began working for Heritage in 1994. Joining the senior management team, he will oversee the Simon Center and the First Principles initiative.

“Matt Spalding has dedicated his career to educating policymakers and, indeed, all Americans, about the fundamental ideas of liberty and constitutional self-government,” said Heritage President Edwin Feulner.
