During a Council on Foreign Relations forum, outgoing Secretary of State admitted that America had done a lot of “stupid things” throughout their history.

As the interview drew to a close, the moderator asked if Clinton still believed in the American political system.

“Absolutely,” Clinton said. “If you’ve looked back, we’ve done some really stupid things – over 200 years we’ve passed terrible laws.”

Clinton added that the United States has “sponsored” or “condoned” discrimination.

"We may be indispensable, but that doesn’t mean we’re perfect,” Clinton added wryly. “We’re probably as close to perfect as anyone has been but we’re maybe not there yet, we’re still trying to form a more perfect union.”
