Speaking at the National Automobile Dealers Association in New Orleans, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton admitted that she hadn't driven a car since 1996.

"I've always enjoyed stories about cars and adventures, and I have to confess that one of the regrets I have about my public life is that I can't drive anymore, my husband thinks that's a blessing but he's the one that should talk," she explained.

Clinton explained cryptically that part of the reason she hasn't driven is because of an incident in 1996, while she was first lady.

“The last time I actually drove a car myself was 1996, and I remember it very well, and so does the Secret Service, which is why I haven't driven since then,” she said.
