Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has decided to comment on the school girls abducted in Nigeria by the terrorist organization Boko Haram - by tweeting a vague statement about the abduction using a hashtag.

The hashtag “#BringBackOurGirls” is being used by many - even human rights activist Malala Yousafzai - to show solidarity for the girls that were abducted in the night from their school in Chibok, Nigeria.

Clinton may have referred to the act as “terrorism” in her tweet, but during her time as secretary of State, she didn’t designate Boko Haram as a foreign terrorist organization. The group was only placed on the State Department’s list in November 2013, nine months after Clinton left office.

Parents of the abducted girls have learned that their children are being forced to marry their captors. Secretary of State John Kerry said Saturday that the U.S. would “do everything possible” to help the Nigerian government find the girls.

“The kidnapping of hundreds of children by Boko Haram is an unconscionable crime,” Kerry said during a speech in Ethiopia. “We will do everything possible to support the Nigerian government to return these young women to their homes and hold the perpetrators to justice.”

Kerry didn’t specify what that support would entail.
