DALLAS (AP) — The downtown Dallas hotel that was the first built by famed hotelier Conrad Hilton is scheduled to get a thorough makeover.
The Dallas Morning News (http://bit.ly/TKOYj5) reports the 89-year-old Hotel Indigo will receive a "large scale renovation" by Pickard Design Studio.
The 14-story hotel opened in 1925 as the Hilton Hotel. After Hilton surrendered the lease to the hotel during the Depression, the hotel operated as the White Plaza Hotel until it became the Hotel Indigo in 2006.
Pickard says it plans to restore some of the hotel's original features and ornamentation while providing the modern amenities expected by the guests of today.
