HOLLAND, Mich. (AP) — The board in charge of Holland's airport has hired an engineering firm to draft plans for a new terminal that's expected to cost about $3.6 million.

The new terminal would be built on the north side of the West Michigan Regional Airport, known until last year as the Tulip City Airport.

Mlive.com (http://bit.ly/12jnL6e ) says the West Michigan Airport Authority voted Monday to hire Mead & Hunt to develop detailed plans for a 10,000- to 11,000-square-foot airport operations center. That's about five times the size of the existing terminal.

The $25,000 project will include construction plans and detailed cost estimates.

Other planned improvements include a $3.1 million apron between the terminal and the runway.
