A homegrown super PAC in Wyoming is getting behind embattled Sen. Mike Enzi in a new ad that subtly reminds voters that the Republican is “Wyoming's own,” while GOP primary challenger Liz Cheney is an outsider.
The group “Wyoming's Own” plans to dump $1 million into statewide ads right up to the August primary election between Enzi and Cheney, the daughter of the former vice president, a massive amount in a state with just a handful of media markets.
“Our strategy from the beginning has been to remind the people of Wyoming why they like Senator Enzi and why they elected him once, twice, and a third time with big margins,” said Bill Cubin, a cofounder of Wyoming's Own and son of former Republican Rep. Barbara Cubin.
They have already started to run one ad crediting Enzi with being the first to warn that President Obama wasn’t telling the truth when he said that Americans would be able to keep their health insurance plans under Obamacare.
