LULING, La. (AP) — Ochsner Health System's reach is growing with the announcement it will expand its relationship with St. Charles Parish Hospital in Luling.
New Orleans CityBusiness reported (http://bit.ly/1op8wTY) the announcement follows a similar partnership announced earlier this spring between Ochsner and St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington.
"This opportunity allows us to continue to strengthen existing services while increasing access to resources not currently available to our patients," St. Charles Parish Hospital Chief Executive Federico Martinez Jr. said.
Ochsner said the health system would provide management services to the 59-bed acute-care nonprofit hospital in St. Charles and assist the local management team.
Ownership of St. Charles Parish Hospital will be retained by the parish's Hospital Service District. Oversight of the Hospital Service District Board will remain in place.
Ochsner and St. Charles Parish Hospital have had a working relationship since 2008. Current services between the two entities include Ochsner's Telestroke program, neurology services and primary-care services.
