Howard's end in Orlando turning ugly

Dwight Howard has done what once was unimaginable: He has made LeBron James look better for how he handled his departure from Cleveland.

Howard has kept Orlando on a yo-yo the past year or two. Word leaks out he wants to leave. It's denied. It resurfaces. Then at the trade deadline, he commits to the Magic for the upcoming season so they keep him. Now he wants to be traded.

Ugh. Go away.

Howard told Yahoo! Sports that there's only one place he will sign an extension right now. But that team, the Brooklyn Nets, isn't waiting around. Had Howard not committed to staying in Orlando for next season, he could have signed with them as a free agent. Problem solved. Now the Nets landed Joe Johnson (and his expensive contract) and likely are out of the Howard sweepstakes.

Howard can get his reputation back at some point. Look at James. But he might have a longer way to go. And his drama is far from over.
