Howard's saga more like the Derision

Dwight Howard hogged attention throughout the NBA lockout. In the opposite manner of the Decision, the center waffled during the condensed season, pleading to be traded behind the scenes only to cave in and waive his right to opt out of his Orlando Magic contract at the trade deadline.

It's only fitting that reports of a Howard trade would surface not just during the Olympics but just as the U.S. team reaches the crucial knockout stage of its march toward a gold medal.

The blockbuster deal involving the Los Angeles Lakers, Orlando, the Denver Nuggets and the Philadelphia 76ers will touch every corner of the league, but this is about Howard and the Hollywood drama he has become before setting foot in Staples Center.

LeBron James hypnotized NBA fans of every ilk, and he angered plenty of them with a one-hour special that was far too much. But Howard's passive aggressive plea for attention has dragged out so long that it's easy to forget who he plays for and even easier to root against whomever he plays for next.
