RENO, Nev. (AP) — More than 200 drivers in the Reno-Sparks area were ticketed for not wearing a seat belt or other driving infractions, while 21 were arrested for driving under the influence or other crimes over the long Thanksgiving weekend.

Reno police report a traffic safety campaign on Friday involved three law enforcement agencies and officers handed out more than 200 tickets. Besides seat belt violations, officers issued tickets for talking on cellphones and other traffic violations, such as running red lights.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says 12 people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Eight people landed in jail for misdemeanor traffic warrants, while one person pulled over for failing to maintain a travel lane was arrested on suspicion of felony drug trafficking.
