< p>CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP) — Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman's career will be the focus of the Embarras (EM'-brah) Valley Film Festival in the eastern Illinois town of Charleston.

The festival will feature five Hackman movies: "Bonnie and Clyde," ''Unforgiven," ''The Royal Tenenbaums," ''Hoosiers" and "The French Connection." Events start Saturday with a film workshop for middle school children. "The Versatile Gene Hackman" festival runs Nov. 1-3 at the Doudna Fine Arts Center.

The 82-year-old actor has won two Academy Awards and been nominated for three others over a career that's spanned five decades. He grew up in Danville.

The festival is a partnership between Eastern Illinois University and the local community. All events are free and open to the public. University officials say Hackman isn't scheduled to attend.
