The Trump White House: Week 84

President Trump focused his sights this week on establishing new bilateral trade deals with Mexico and Canada.

On Monday, Trump struck a deal with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto that formalizes a new trade agreement that would lead to the termination of the North American Free Trade Agreement, better known as NAFTA.

Following his conference call with Pena Nieto, the president expressed optimism that a deal would be reached with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

While things are going smoother than expected on trade, Trump is turning his ire towards Silicon Valley, specifically tech giant Google. Trump accused the search engine on Twitter of suppressing positive stories about him. This comes as tech companies like Google, Twitter, and Facebook are scheduled to testify on Capitol Hill in the coming weeks to address their handling of political content.

Finally, Trump announced the departure of White House counsel Don McGahn on Twitter to McGahn’s surprise. He’s expected to leave after the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
