AMELIA, Va. (AP) — Officials say a man scheduled to go on trial in Amelia County attacked a prosecutor, sheriff's deputy and a courthouse custodian.

Sheriff Ricky Wheeler says 31-year-old Joseph Greene attacked Deputy Joseph Jones with leg shackles on Thursday when Jones tried to bring Greene from a holding cell to court. Commonwealth's Attorney Lee Harrison and custodian Tommy Poore were injured trying to assist Jones.

Wheeler says that the men's injuries were not life threatening.

Greene was to face breaking and entering charges. Wheeler says Green faces additional charges in the attack.
