ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The company that makes TurboTax and other popular tax software says the problems identified by Minnesota officials are confined just to Minnesota.

Intuit spokeswoman Julie Miller says the problems affect several portions of the 2012 Minnesota income tax returns, including property tax refunds, education expenses and $5 political contributions. She says about 10,000 tax returns will be affected by the communication errors.

Minnesota Revenue officials on Friday warned taxpayers not to use TurboTax and other Intuit tax software, and that the problems could delay refunds or make them inaccurate.

Miller says people who've already filed have been notified, and the company will refund any customer who asks for one. She says software updates have already been pushed out to try to fix the problem.
