THE ISRAELI MILITARY SAYS ALL APPEARS TO BE QUIET ALONG SYRIA'S BORDER WITH THE ISRAELI-HELD GOLAN HEIGHTS, AFTER REBELS CAPTURED A SYRIAN BORDER POST.

A HUMAN RIGHTS GROUP SAYS A WIDE RANGE OF REBEL FIGHTERS INCLUDING THE WESTERN-BACKED FREE SYRIAN ARMY AND AN AL-QAIDA-LINKED GROUP CAPTURED THE SITE, AFTER A MAJOR BATTLE AGAINST GOVERNMENT TROOPS.

ISRAEL SAYS SOME WEAPONS FIRE SPILLED OVER THE BORDER, WOUNDING AN ARMY OFFICER AND SPARKING FIRES.

"My crews working here were reinforced and put out the fire, put out what was needed to be put out, where we could access. However at this point we still have reinforced crews, at this stage there is calm, it is quiet, all is back to normal."
