President Obama held a press conference today announcing Jack Lew as his nomination to replace outgoing Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner. During Lew’s remarks, he referenced the widespread reports on his whacky signature – which may soon be on the United States dollar bill.

“I though I knew you pretty well but it was only yesterday that I discovered that we both share a common challenge with penmanship,” Lew joked while addressing Geithner during the press conference.

When Timothy Geithner was nominated, he was also mocked for his sloppy signature. Afterwards he used a reformed version for the nation’s currency.

Obama also mentioned Lew’s signature during his press conference.

“I had never noticed Jack’s signature,” Obama joked. “When this was highlighted yesterday in the press I considered rescinding my offer to appoint him.”
