Dozens of better-than-usual dressed journalists and guests packed into the Kalorama home of Juleanna Glover Saturday night to celebrate ABC's Jake Tapper and the launch of his new book. A pinstriped Tapper gamely signed copies of "The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor" and worked the party, crowded with reporters from every outlet from C-SPAN to Fox.

He admitted to Yeas & Nays that he probably knew only half the people there but said he of course knew the most important person there: "my wife." Adding to his good-guy cred, Tapper is donating proceeds from the party to Defenders of Freedom, a military charity that provides care packages to soldiers and helps wounded veterans as they transition back to civilian life.

Tapper said writing the book was a nice return to print for him -- before joining ABC as the network's White House correspondent, Tapper wrote for Salon and Washington City Paper, where he penned an account of his 1998 date with Monica Lewinsky that remains famous among print journalists in D.C. Tapper said he doesn't get asked about it much anymore. "It's been 14 years," he said. He then seemed to reconsider the point. "Actually everyone should read it. It still holds up."
