On CNN Wednesday, Jake Tapper questioned Sen. Rand Paul about his father’s comments on Fox Business concerning the welfare of Edward Snowden. The elder Paul voiced his concerns on Tuesday over the safety of Snowden – suggesting that the government might target him with a drone.

Rand Paul explained that he hadn’t heard of any threats to Snowden’s life other than a story about intelligence officials at an airport commenting that Snowden should be “disappeared.”

“I don’t know what to make of all of that,” the Republican U.S. Senator from Kentucky said. “I do know that committing civil disobedience is a big step forward, and history has treated people in various fashions. Some people (who) commit civil disobedience have been treated as heroes, some have not.”

Rand Paul added he was also concerned about the conduct of Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, who appeared to lie about surveillance programs during a congressional committee hearing.

“How will we treat him? And how will history treat him, and how will history treat a person who’s trying to defend the Fourth Amendment? I think that’s still open to be said,” the Senator said.
