Jarrettsville home ideal for entertainers, chefs

There’s a joke that goes, he’s so rich, he has a roll of $20 bills … in the bathroom.

One wonders what other features one might find in this gentleman’s home. Perhaps flatscreen TVs in the kitchen. Heated granite flooring in various rooms, 20-foot vaulted ceilings, a rec room with a 16-foot built-in wet bar and a gorgeous view of an 855-acre park.

You can find all of these amenities, and more (though perhaps not the pricey toilet paper!) in the six-plus bedroom, six-bath home now for sale at 3251 Rocks Chrome Hill Road in Jarrettsville.

Listed at $1.3 million, this Harford County single-family home was custom-built in 2005 on just under two-and-a-half acres near Rocks State Park. Features include a solid-brass chandelier and sconces in the dining room, French doors leading to a covered patio, a living-room fireplace, stainless steel kitchen appliances, Siltstone counters and a breakfast bar with satin nickel seating; a Jacuzzi tub in the master bath, a three-car attached garage with automatic doors and epoxy flooring, and a large decorative fountain in front of the house.

“It is great for the transitional family with many needs — the entertainer, the chef, and a perfect setting for the adventurous nature lover,” said Jennifer Bayne, Coldwell Banker Residential Mortgage, Baltimore City. “The home is located just minutes from Rocks State Park where canoeing, rock climbing, hiking, fishing, tubing, picnicking, and other outdoor activities abound. The owners love being tucked away in the rolling hills, yet only a 30-45 minute commute to White Marsh and 20 minutes to Bel Air.”

Lori Canon, who owns the home with her husband, Glen, the general contractor, affirms Bayne’s comments about the “location, location, location.”

“I love being in the park; we have a lot of privacy and you don’t have to worry about people building around you. The house sits 1,600 feet off the road,” Lori Canon said. “We’re just 20-25 minutes from Hunt Valley if I want to shop, and the Geneva Farms Golf Club is 10 minutes away. My husband golfs so I always know where to find him!”

Canon also raves about the local school system, noting the “excellent teacher-to-student ratio” at North Harford High School, “which went through a huge renovation and is absolutely beautiful,” she said.

Equipped with five heating zones, allowing temperature control in different rooms using separate thermostats, the home is approximately 6,000 square feet with an upper level that offers an efficiency unit that the Canons added for their daughter. The home also features an au pair or in-law quarters on the lower level, complete with a full kitchen, bath and laundry.

“It’s about 1,700 feet with two bedrooms. So if you have multiple children or perhaps your parents living with you, this feature is really nice,” Canon said.

“The lower level is an entertainer’s dream, with multiple flat-screen televisions, billiards area, and a fully functional bar with kegerator, cooler and poker machine. The room was designed to function as a theater or home gym,” Bayne said.
