White House Press Secretary Jay Carney explained to the press this morning that suggestions that President Obama should replace Vice President Joe Biden on the ticket were “ridiculous.”

Carney explained that Obama understood that Biden’s comments about Romney putting people “back in chains,” was not a reference to slavery and lectured the reporters at the briefing for thinking that the comments were about anything but Wall Street reform.

“I’m sure that there are some exceptions in this room pretend otherwise,” he said, calling such reports “confected distractions” from the Romney campaign.

Later Carney insisted that Biden’s comments were not “intended.”
