Jet Crash In Russian Region Kills 50, Officials Say

Emergency officials said, a passenger jet crashed Sunday evening while landing in Kazan, a regional capital east of Moscow,killing all 50 people onboard.Officials said, the jetliner,a Boeing 737-500 operated by Tatarstan Airlines, had originated in Moscow and apparently was making a second attempt to land when it slammed into the ground.The officials said that the dead passengers included Alexander V. Antonov, the regional head of Russia’s Federal Security Service, known as the F.S.B.
