WASHINGTON (AP) — D.C. police say two thieves made off with about $50,000 worth of jewelry in a daytime smash-and-grab robbery.
The robbery occurred around 12:35 p.m. Thursday at Pampillonia Jewelers inside the Mazza Gallerie mall in northwest Washington.
Police spokesman Officer Araz Alali tells The Washington Post (http://tinyurl.com/pfu87p4) that two men entered the store, put on masks and smashed display cases with a hammer. They took some jewelry before fleeing in a car.
Alali says numerous witnesses saw the men and were able to describe them, and witnesses also provided the license plate number of the getaway car. Security cameras also captured images of the men.
