Montgomery County police are seeking to identify the man who robbed a Glenmont-area jewelry store earlier this week.

About 12:45 p.m. Monday, the robber went to The Gold Spot, located at 11935 Georgia Ave. After an employee let him into the store, the robber pulled down a mask to cover his face, produced a handgun and announced that he was robbing the store. He took an undisclosed amount of cash and gold jewelry before fleeing, police said.

The robber was described as a black man, 35 to 40 years old, about 5-feet-7 to 5-feet-10, with a dark complexion and a heavy build. He was wearing a jacket and jeans.

Anyone with information can call police at 240-773-5100 or 301-279-8000. People who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS (8477).
