OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — Workers who are being laid off by Oshkosh Defense are being offered help finding a new job.
Twenty-nine companies looking to fill 1,600 positions took part in a job fair Thursday strictly for laid-off workers.
Oshkosh Corp. announced in April that about 700 hourly workers and 60 salaried positions would be cut. Because of things like early retirements, the number is now down to about 535.
WLUK-TV (http://bit.ly/UjMBo2) reports Oshkosh Corp. organized the job fair, which focused on production employees.
The company blamed the layoffs on expiring military contracts.
