Vice President Joe Biden doesn't think that his multiple gaffes preclude him from running for president.

In an interview aired on CNN's "New Day" Friday morning, host Kate Bolduan asked Biden to give her a reason not to run for president in 2016.

Biden declined.

"I can't," he said shortly. "There may be reasons I don't run, but there's no obvious reason, for me, why I think I should not run."

Biden sounded an optimistic note about the future of the United States.

"I think there's future for this country, I know people think I'm too optimistic, but it is incredible. There's so much just within our grasp," Biden added. "Doesn't mean I'm the only guy that can do it. But if no one else I think can, and I think I can, then I'd run. If I don't, I won't."

Biden said that he would decide about a run for president in the summer of 2015.
