House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, assured reporters Tuesday morning that the House has no plans to impeach President Obama, sending a clear message to players on both sides who have insisted recently that this is a real thing.

Boehner accused the White House and its allies of using talk of impeachment as a cheap ploy to raise cash ahead of the November midterm elections.

“We have no plans to impeach the president,” Boehner said, reiterating that House Republicans have “no future plans” to impeach Obama.

It’s “all a scam started by Democrats at the White House,” he added.
