House Speaker John Boehner slammed President Obama Thursday morning, for failing to respond to an offensive by Islamist militants in Iraq.

"It's not like we haven't seen this problem coming for over a year" Boehner said. Islamic militants have waged a brutal insurgency against the Iraqi government since the U.S. withdrawal in 2012, leaving thousands dead as Sunni militias bolster their operational capabilities with foreign fighters and captured American military equipment.

This week, al Qaeda affiliated militias, included the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, a jihadi group also active in Syria, overran the cities of Mosul and Tikrit, and are expected to march on Baghdad.

"And what's the president doing," an incensed Boehner asked. "Taking a nap."
