A man charged in federal court in the District with producing child pornography was arrested Wednesday afternoon following what authorities called a "nationwide manhunt."

The man, dubbed "John Doe" in court papers, was arrested after a tipster called U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. His arrest comes a little over 24 hours after ICE investigators asked the public for help in identifying the suspect, authorities said.

A criminal complaint was obtained for "John Doe" after Danish National Police referred four child pornography videos to investigators with ICE. The videos depicted "John Doe" and a girl who appears to be 7 to 9 years old engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to a court document.

The man's identity and additional details about his arrest will be released after his initial court appearance in this case.
