On MSNBC last night, Secretary of State John Kerry explained that the military action planned by President Obama was not taking America to war.
"I know the lessons of war," Kerry said in an exclusive interview with MSNBC's Christopher Hayes. "I don't believe this is taking America to war. I believe this is enforcing a very limited military action, not going to war, that will, in fact, stand up for the notion that you should not use chemical weapons."
Kerry insisted that Obama's planned military action in Syria was nothing like the Iraq War, which he said was based on "shoddy intelligence."
"It is not Iraq. It is not Afghanistan. It is not even Libya," Kerry said. "There will be no American boots on the ground. We are not sliding through a back door into a war. We're not going to war."
