For most of the NBA season, Ted Leonsis' blog, Ted's Take, has been the only source of optimism on the Internet about the Wizards.

On Tuesday, the team owner offered news that was actually encouraging, hinting that John Wall could make his long awaited season debut Saturday against the Atlanta Hawks.

"It is possible but not quite certain," Leonsis wrote, "for the first time all season, that we could dress all of our players. I don't want to jinx it, but we are all hoping that is what we will see."

It's about time, and the Wizards (5-28) get three straight days of practice during a rare break in the schedule to prepare. Wall's likely return -- along with that of Trevor Booker, who hasn't played since Nov. ?21 -- also comes as a number of Wizards have turned the corner.

Rookie shooting guard Bradley Beal hit his first career game-winner Monday and is averaging 18.2 points in January. Martell Webster is also scoring more (12.0 ppg) since the calendar changed, and Emeka Okafor has five double-doubles in the last nine games.

The backcourt of Beal and Wall, who averaged 16.3 points and 8.2 assists in his first two seasons, was one of the reasons the Wizards thought they would scrap for a playoff berth before the season.

It is no longer realistic to think it can happen. But if Wall's return goes off without a hitch, at the very least Leonsis' positive preaching won't feel as if it is coming from the loneliest spot in the virtual world.
