ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) — Democrat Rob Krupicka appears to have won a special election for the 45th District House of Delegates in northern Virginia.

According to the Virginia State Board of Elections website, with 24 of 24 precincts reporting Tuesday night, Krupicka had 6,384 votes, or 75 percent. Republican Timothy McGhee had 1,737 votes, and Libertarian Justin Malkin had 288 votes.

The district includes parts of Fairfax and Arlington counties and the city of Alexandria, including its Old Town section.

The election was held to replace Democrat David Englin, who resigned after an extramarital affair.

Democrat Kenneth Alexander ran unopposed in the state Senate race to replace Yvonne Miller of Norfolk, who died in July.
