LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — Officials in Lake Charles are refocusing efforts to development of public property along the lakefront.
The American Press reports (http://bit.ly/1eOXZNb) the city had been negotiating with the Mardi Gras Boardwalk development group for several years, but the talks didn't produce results and city officials lost patience.
Recently, the city issued a request for qualifications from companies to provide marketing services to develop and promote projects along Lake Charles.
City officials say they hope to select a real estate consulting company, development company or marketing firm that would put together development options and a process to find developers for all or part of the lakefront property.
Proposals are due to the city on May 30.
City Administrator John Cardone says officials will go over the proposals and select companies for interviews.
