BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Lamar Advertising co. shareholders will vote on the conversion to a Real Estate Investment Trust during a special meeting sometime in the fourth quarter.
The company tells The Advocate (http://bit.ly/V1v4Bk ) the date of the meeting has not been set. As part of the conversion, Lamar plans to merge with the newly formed Lamar Advertising REIT Co.
Real Estate Investment Trusts don't have to pay corporate income taxes on profits if at least 90 percent of profits go to shareholders.
