BALTIMORE (AP) — The last two defendants in a federal probe of brutality at a Maryland prison are heading for trial in Baltimore.

Jury selection begins Monday for the trial of former Lt. Jason Weicht (WEEKT) and former Correctional Officer James Kalbflesh.

They deny allegations they conspired to violate the civil rights of inmate Kenneth Davis after he punched a guard at Roxbury Correctional Institution near Hagerstown in 2008.

Thirteen others have been convicted of crimes including obstruction of justice, conspiracy and violating Davis' civil rights. The prisoner suffered a broken nose, back and ribs from a series of assaults that some of the officers than tried to cover up by lying to investigators and destroying surveillance video.

Kalbflesh allegedly participated in the beating. Weicht allegedly took part in the cover-up.
