Laurel police officers will start wearing small video cameras on their sunglass or headgear to record interactions with citizens and help resolve disputes over facts, reports WJZ-TV.

Police Chief Richard McLaughlin tells the Baltimore CBS affiliate that the cameras are already used for training, and he wants to use them when officers execute search warrants and other operations.

David Rocah of the American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland says having proof of what happened in police interactions can be useful to protect the officers and citizens.

Officers will be required to let citizens know when they are being recorded.
