Local spotlight on Wednesday

Robert Wiedmaier, chef and owner of Marcel's restaurant, David Guas, of Bayou Bakery and Damgoodsweet Consulting fame, and RJ Cooper, chef at Rogue 24, all like to ride hogs. They call themselves the District Hogs Motorcycle Club, and they ride to raise money for charities. With Christmas drawing near, the three chefs have decided to host a toy drive for the kids in the area surrounding Wiedmaier's restaurant Mussel Bar & Grille in Atlantic City, N.J., who were impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

Mussel Bar & Grille in Bethesda (7262 Woodmont Ave.) will treat gift givers to Triple Chocolate Gateau, and at Bayou Bakery (1515 N. Courthouse Road, Arlington), you'll receive Chocolate Peanut Sandies. Cooper will reward you with a Monk's Hot Chocolate Cocktail at Rogue 24 (922 N St. NW).

Wiedmaier will personally deliver the gifts come Christmas.

Looking to grab lunch outside the office today? Stop by Z-Burger for a 12-cent hamburger or cheeseburger any time after 12:12 p.m. The casual burger joint is celebrating Dec. 12, 2012, at 12:12 p.m. -- that's a lot of twelves -- and will be dishing up 12-cent burgers until 2:12 p.m. If you've ever participated in any of Z-Burger's deals, then you know you'll need a password. Just tell your waiter "12-12-12," and you've got the in. It's not unlimited, though, so only one burger per customer. The deal is valid in Tenleytown (4321 Wisconsin Ave. NW), Southwest (1101 Fourth St. SW), Columbia Heights (3301 14th St. NW) and even the White Marsh location in Baltimore (8145 Honeygo Blvd.).
