COCKTAILS & CLASSICS

If you're an avid reader, then there's probably a book or two that has made a lasting impression on you. The Pink Line Project is teaming up with the Intentional to give you the opportunity to share your favorite book with a stranger at an intimate literary party. Bring a copy of your favorite book with a note explaining why it has changed your life. While sipping cocktails inspired by various literary classics, you'll get to swap your book with someone else's. As with all fun literary parties, you're encouraged to dress up as your favorite writer or literary character. The party starts at 8 p.m. at the Pink Line Project (2125 14th St. NW). To reserve your spot, email info@pinklineproject.com.

MUSICAL GENIUS

The Embassy of Austria is throwing a birthday party for two of the country's very own musical geniuses -- Franz Peter Schubert and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart -- and you are cordially invited. The Embassy Series starts Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. with an entire evening dedicated to Schubert. The evening will include performances by a solo pianist, cellist and vocalist highlighting some of his most famous musical works. Stick around after the performance for a dessert and champagne reception.

The series continues Thursday and Friday and will feature chamber and solo works featuring both Schubert and Mozart. Tickets for all three performances (3524 International Court NW) are $55. Go to www.embassyseries.org to purchase your ticket and to learn more information about each performance.
