Presumptive mayor-elect Vince Gray believes there’s opportunity to find jobs for the District’s military veterans in the emerging “green” technology industry.
The current D.C. Council Chairman told a group of about 150 veterans gathered at the International Graduate School in Southeast on Tuesday afternoon that he wants to provide veterans with the type of training they’ll need to get jobs in the environmentally-friendly industry.
“I will put veterans in the preferential group to receive that type of training,” Gray said.
Building the city’s green industry was part of the economic development plan Gray released before he beat Mayor Adrian Fenty in the Democratic primary.
