A suspended police officer in Prince George's County has been charged with lying on his application for a police job in central Pennsylvania.
WTAE in Pittsburgh reports that Mark R. Castin applied for a job with the Penn Township police, and said in his application that he had never been suspended, disciplined or asked to resign from a job.
But officials then learned that he has been suspended with pay and subject to termination since 2009, the television station reported. The charge, unsworn falsification to authorities, is a misdemeanor.
Prince George's officials say the investigation into Castin is ongoing and declined to comment.
Township police chief John Otto told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that Castin had been one of the top candidates for a vacancy in the department.
