Occupy DC might have drawn thousands of protesters to the Capitol for Occupy Congress on Tuesday, but it's not through with protests this week — and they're heading back to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Occupy the Courts, set for Friday, is part of a nationwide day of action protesting the Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission decision on its second anniversary. The Supreme Court decision allows corporations and labor unions to raise and spend unlimited amounts of money on political campaigns, and it's become a particular sticking point for Occupiers.
The protest, organized by advocacy group Move to Amend, kicks off at 11:45 a.m. at the Supreme Court and should end by 1:30 p.m. Protesters at the Occupy DC camp at McPherson Square say they're expecting a number of protesters who arrived for Occupy Congress to stay in the area for Occupy the Courts.
It won't be the first time Occupiers have visited the Supreme Court this week — Tuesday night, they blocked the steps of the Supreme Court (a violation of federal law) during their Occupy Congress march.
