Pollster John Zogby reports in our weekly White House report card that President Obama has some hurdles to clear as he begins the week.

"The president's approval rating continues to soar, now up to 57% in this week's Zogby Poll. He is reaching highs with younger voters and is doing his best in a while with those over 65, at 46 percent approval. He gets solid ratings on the economy at 51 percent, understanding the middle class at 54 percent, on handling health care at 48 percent and immigration at 50 percent. But my poll revealed lurking shadows. For example, voters are split 42 percent approve-55 percent disapprove on Obama's handling of the deficit and on his handling of the the tax issue, 47 percent approve and 55 percent disapprove. Plus he was bruised by the troubled nomination of former Sen. Chuck Hagel for secretary of defense. "
