LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) — Lynchburg's Doughboy statue is holding its bayonet again.
Media outlets report that welders reattached the bronze bayonet to the statue on Thursday.
The bayonet was broken off in October 2013 and discarded in the James River. State police divers recovered it.
The statue is a World War I memorial and an icon in Lynchburg. Doughboy commonly refers to Marines or Army personnel who served in World War I.
