Magnitude 4.2 quake felt in southern Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A light earthquake in southern Alaska has shaken some residents of Anchorage and Kenai (KEEN'-eye).

The Alaska Earthquake Information Center says the magnitude 4.2 quake was located about 34 miles northwest of Anchorage and was at a depth of about 42 miles. It struck just after 2 p.m. local time.

The center says its received reports from Anchorage and Kenai residents who felt the shaking, but there have been no immediate reports of damage.
