Man and child shot in Congress Heights Saturday

A child and a man were shot in Congress Heights Saturday night, D.C. police report.

Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred at roughly 8 p.m. at 1242 Savannah Place Southeast, just south of the Congress Heights Metro station, police say. The man was shot in the leg outside the house, while a stray bullet went through the door of the house and hit a four-year-old in the hand, according to news reports.

Police are still investigating the shooting and as of Sunday afternoon did not have any suspects.
