A Wheaton man was arrested for sexually assaulting a 31-year-old woman, police said.
Trent Elijah Curtis, 22, was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault, Montgomery County police said. He was released on bond and has a court proceeding scheduled for Feb. 14.
About 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, officers were near the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Weller Road when they saw a man follow the woman into a nearby neighborhood. A short time later, officers received a 911 call about a sexual assault that took place in the area where they last saw the man.
The victim told police that a man approached her from behind and inappropriately touched her before he fled on foot. Curtis was found a short distance away, and the woman identified him as her attacker, police said.
