Police have identified the man as 44-year-old Anthony Andre Allain of the 7600 block of Foutainbleau Drive. Police responding to the fire in the 7600 block of Fontainbleau Drive on Sunday night arrested Allain at a nearby apartment building. He was taken to a hospital and was being treated for non-life threatening burns. Charges are pending.

Witnesses said Allain barricaded himself and others inside an apartment and started a fire.

Two people were killed in a suspicious apartment fire in New Carrollton, according to Prince George's County fire officials.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at a four-story apartment building in the 7600 block of Fontainbleau Drive at about 7:45 p.m. Sunday, and found flames showing from a top floor with people trapped inside.

Fire crews knocked down the fire in about 15 minutes, and discovered a dead adult in the apartment where the fire started.

A person jumped from a rear top-floor balcony and landed about 40 feet below, sustaining massive upper body trauma, fire officials said. That adult was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

Fire officials said the cause of the fire is suspicious and was being jointly investigated by fire department investigators and the Prince George's County police.
