Police said a man was robbed and assaulted in the Capitol Hill neighborhood Tuesday morning only several blocks from where another man was found badly beaten last month.

About 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, a man was approached by two men in the 300 block of North Carolina Avenue SE, according to D.C. police. One of the men pointed a gun at the victim, and he was assaulted and robbed.

The suspects were described as black males, 20 years old, 5-foot-4 and 150 pounds. According to media reports, the victim suffered minor injuries.

On Aug. 18, Thomas Maslin was found on the front porch of a home in the 700 block of North Carolina Avenue SE. He had been robbed and assaulted after stopping at the Tune Inn bar on his way home from a Washington Nationals game.

Police on Wednesday are investigating whether Tuesday's incident is related to the Maslin case, but First District Commander Daniel Hickson wrote in an email Tuesday evening that a "direct correlation has not been established."
