An unidentified man allegedly tried to sexually assault a woman inside a private school in the Southeast, according to police.

Police said the man attacked the woman -- who was a school employee -- at about 6:40 a.m. on Thursday morning in the Naylor Road School, located in the 2400 block of Naylor Road SE. He grabbed the woman but she fought him off and ran away, according to police.

The Naylor Road School teaches children from preschool to 8th grade. Police did not say whether children were in the building at the time of the attack or in what part of the school it occurred.

Officials from the school could not be reached on Saturday.

Police describe the attacker as a black male with a dark complexion, about 25 to 25 years old and about 6 feet 2 inches tall with a stocky build. He had a full beard and was last seen wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt and grey pants.

Anyone with information should call D.C. police at (202) 727-9099.
